The General Internal Medicine Division directs important programs for the education of Medical Students, Residents, and Post Doctoral research fellows. 

General Internal Medicine faculty direct the VALOR integrated program for medical student training during their Clinical Clerkships.  The PRIME residency track in Internal Medicine is based at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center in the General Internal Medicine division.  PRIME is a clinical research based residency program in which residents learn key research skills and complete mentored research projects with the goal of peer-reviewed publication.  The Women’s Health Research Fellowship is a VA funded program based at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center and directed by General internal Medicine Faculty.  In addition, the GIM division at SFVAMC is a partner in the UCSF General Internal Medicine Clinical Research Fellowship that includes the three University of California, San Francisco General Internal Medicine divisions.
